Hiking and Discovery

The village of Monal

Between nature and heritage, an altitude hamlet whose chalets have retained their authenticity for several centuries, a natural setting facing sparkling glaciers, ancestral traditions that endure: 3 good reasons to come and discover the secrets of this listed site!

La Pierra Menta

It is a summit in the Beaufortain massif, in the French department of Savoie, reaching an altitude of 2,714 m. Despite this modest height, it is remarkable for its enormous monolithic spur (approximately 120 meters of vertical face) at the top of a rocky ridge. It has thus given its name to an internationally renowned ski mountaineering race, the Pierra Menta. The name derives directly from the Franco-Provençal Perrâ mentâ, meaning “mounted stone”.

La Rosière, Le Petit Saint Bernard Pass

It is at an altitude of 2188m that the Col du Petit Saint-Bernard or Colle del Piccolo San Bernardo establishes the border point between France and Italy.

In summer, you can get there from La Rosière by car, bike, or shuttle. In winter, the only way is by ski! You’ll be skiing on the slopes of the Espace San Bernardo.
When you reach the pass, you’ll undoubtedly be captivated by the beauty of the landscapes. You’ll quickly realize that this place is steeped in history.

This crossing point has always been a strategic stronghold since antiquity: sometimes a place of trade, sometimes a site of conflict. Today, the customs building is empty and the customs officers have left! However, in the summer, you can visit the Chanousia Alpine Botanical Garden, stroll through the Neolithic Cromlech, or have a meal at the Hospice of the Little Saint Bernard.

Courmayeur, SkyWay

A 1.5-hour drive from the Eulets chalet, you can reach the foot of the roof of Europe via the SkyWay cable car, departing from Courmayeur. You can take the opportunity to visit this superb village in the Italian mountains.

Notre Dame des Vernettes

It has been a very dear place in the hearts of the inhabitants of the Valley for over 300 years. The sanctuary is listed as a historical monument.

Its history: The Vernettes site, at an altitude of 1800m, includes a Marian shrine, a guesthouse, a chapel oratory near the healing spring, and a Stations of the Cross. Five pilgrimage routes lead there: paths marked with ancient crosses.
The shrine dates from 1720, the guesthouse from 1766, and the bell tower from 1777.
It is a vibrant place of meeting and prayer, visited year-round by hikers (an hour’s walk from the nearest village) and skiers (on the edge of the Peisey ski area).

Rosuel Valley, picnics and walks

Located in a magnificent natural setting, the Rosuel valley is a plateau dominated by numerous peaks over 3000m: Bellecôte, Aiguille du St Esprit, Mont Pourri.
Gateway to the Vanoise National Park and starting point for many hikes.

This place is very pleasant in all seasons, and several activities are offered: hiking, via ferrata, donkey rides, archery, horse riding, an adventure park in the forest in summer, and in winter: cross-country skiing, reindeer rides, horse or dog sledding, ice climbing, snowshoeing (or without), and sledding.

Chapieux Valley

It is a true crossroads between Tarentaise, Beaufortin and the Mont Blanc massif, it is one of the highest places of pastoral life on the passage of the famous Tour du Mont Blanc.

The starting point for numerous hikes. At the hamlet of Les Chapieux, you’ll find a sheepfold, goat cheese production, and a restaurant/bar nestled among herds of Tarine cows. A free shuttle service connects to Ville des Glaciers, where you’ll find the GAEC des Frères JUGLARET and their Beaufort d’alpage cheese, matured on-site.

The entire horizon is dominated by the magnificent Aiguille des Glaciers, a striking combination of rock and glaciers (3817 m). From Ville des Glaciers, it’s a fifteen-minute walk to the Refuge des Mottets (1864 m). This former alpine chalet has been completely renovated and even offers double rooms. Above the refuge, the trail climbs to the Col de la Seigne (2516 m), a 2- to 3-hour hike. From this high point, the view of Mont Blanc and its entire massif is breathtaking. Up here, the mountain presents an impassable barrier in a powerful blend of ice and rock. The Col de la Seigne lies on the route of the famous Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB), a 10-day loop hike that connects France, Italy, and Switzerland—another adventure in itself.

Cormet de Roseland

The Cormet de Roselend is a mountain pass located at an altitude of 1968 m, the starting point for magnificent hikes and providing road access to the Chapieux valley and the Tarentaise region. Cormet comes from the Latin word Culmen, meaning summit.

The Cormet de Roselend pass is open from the end of May to mid-October. From here, beautiful hikes of all levels begin, as well as via ferratas. Nearby is the Chalet du Cormet, where you can discover alpine life and pastoralism. A large herd of Tarine cows grazes in this area during the summer. The Cormet de Roselend is also famous for having frequently featured in the Tour de France cycling race.
